Hey everyone! If you ever want to see a beautiful historical park, go to Indian Springs State Park in Flovilla, Georgia! It is one of the oldest state parks in Georgia and conveniently off interstate-75. There you will find the beautiful Big Sandy Creek flowing next to the highway and all throughout the park. There are various trails to hike, plus the main attraction, the spring! In the 1800's the creek Indians would drink from this spring as they believed the water has healing qualities.
Today, visitors collect the water to drink in their homes. Growing up I would come here with my dad and we would be sure to take some bottles back with us. Because it is mineral water, it contains sulphur. My dad and I would always let the water sit in the fridge for a few days and the unfavored sulphur smell would quickly go away.
My friends, one of their dogs, and I enjoyed hiking the moderate trail that meanders throughout the hill! We definitely got our workout in, but it was nothing too treacherous. We saw many families there enjoying lunch and other dogs that our dog, Blue, got to greet!
The park also has a museum, beautiful pavilion, areas for pic-nicing, campsites, a playground, and a boat ramp for Chief McIntosh Lake. This location is great for dogs, families, and friends! Know that because it is a state park there is a $5 fee for parking, but well worth it. Be sure to get out there, wade in the creek, try some fresh spring water, and enjoy all the places Georgia has to offer!
