Sunflowers seem like the happiest flower out there – IF flowers could show emotions! I think there is a great lesson to learn from sunflowers, and it is summarized in the following quote: “Even on the darkest of days, I will stand tall and find the sunlight.” Sunflowers are a beautiful reminder to me that even on the hardest of days, there is something good that you can fix your eyes on. That is what makes this location so special… fields and fields of absolute happiness!
Fausett Farms is one of North Georgia’s best kept secrets! Currently, the farm features over 30 acres of sunflowers, which is approximately 900,000 flowers. Here is a little history of this beautiful location taken from their website: Fausett Farms has been family owned since 1858. Previously, the farm was used for poultry farming until 2011. Afterwards, the family turned their land into fields of beautiful sunflowers and trails for horseback riding.
Fausett Farms charges $5 per person to come and enjoy their beautiful flowers, and $35 for professional photographers charging their clients. Since the flowers are only in bloom a few months out of the year, it is important to schedule your trip between September and November. Furry friends are welcome as long as they are on a leash and the owner cleans up after them! However, there are horse trails that are open year-round. These horse trails cover miles and miles of land and only cost $10 per horse to enjoy the day.
This is the perfect place to include on your trip up to the North Georgia mountains! As I promised, the bonus gem of the article is … drum roll please… Amicalola Falls!
Fausett Farms is just south of the very popular Amicalola Falls, so it is the perfect location to visit after a hike up to see the breathtaking waterfall. Amicalola Falls State Park is home to Georgia’s tallest waterfall at the most southern point of the Appalachian Trail. There are two main options to view the beautiful waterfall. The first option is a 2.1 mile hike up a multitude of man-made stairs, which lets you see the absolute beauty that the Chattahoochee National Forest has to offer. The second option is a paved trail that is considered the ADA access trail which is .3 miles from the parking lot. Both trails take the hiker to see the most breathtaking waterfall the state has to offer.
So, go out and explore both of these gems that Georgia has to offer but this time, take a moment to think about the good things in your life and stand tall like a sunflower!
